Tervajärvi Forest Chapel

Nestled in the peaceful surroundings of the Tervajärvi Camp Centre, Tervajärvi Forest Chapel is a unique example of contemporary Finnish wooden architecture. Completed through volunteer work in 2020 and consecrated by Bishop Matti Repo, the chapel was designed by architect Lassi Viitanen of NOAN Architects.
The chapel beautifully combines tradition and modern design. Its timber structure, wooden roof, and dark tar-treated exterior reflect Finnish building traditions, while its clean and minimalist form represents modern architecture. Inside, visitors are greeted by a tranquil lake view framed by the altar window and a striking wave-like timber structure that creates a warm and distinctive atmosphere.

The chapel seats approximately 30 people and is primarily used for summer confirmation camps. It is also available for baptisms and wedding ceremonies by arrangement with the parish office.
